Backdoor To Heaven

verse:

Little boy,

Just skin and bones,

It won't take much to own his soul.

Little girl,

We've got a hold of her,

We will not let her go,

She's such a pretty puppy.

Lights are on,

But no one's home,

Let's bring them in to fill their holes.

Oh my! A new recruit!

Gather all of the troops!

This is a Holy War,

We're shutting all the open doors.

chorus:

Thank God for everyone,

(Find a) Backdoor to Heaven,

Praise God for everyone.

verse:

Now go to church,

To pray for sinners.

Now go to work,

To pay for sins.

But on Sunday, yeah, dirty Sunday,

We'll wait for Monday,

And we'll fire up and go again.

Now I'll kiss her,

And you kiss him,

We'll mess around to see what fits.

And when we're through with you,

We'll have more work to do,

No rest for wicked ways,

When counting down those final days.

chorus:

Thank God for everyone,

(Find a) Backdoor to Heaven,

Praise God for everyone.

verse:

Bless this institution of persecution

(We welcome almost everyone)

We'll sit in silence to stop the violence

(We welcome almost everyone)

chorus:

Backdoor to Heaven (yeah)

We won't stop until Heaven (no)

Along with "Truth Be Told", "Backdoor To Heaven" is Alex's favorite song from the Breathing Buildings album.  Alex wrote the music and lyrics and plays guitar.  Derek adds signature flavor on guitar throughout the entire song.  Austin lays down a solid, chugging beat on drums.  Daniel plays bass.  Due to time constraints recording the album, however, Alex ended up playing most of Daniel's bass part.  Daniel doesn't like this song anyway.

"Backdoor To Heaven" made its live debut on March 17, 2005, at The Liberty Theatre.
